Momentum Pictures’ wacky new comedy, The Men Who Stare At Goats, is all about this - some might say - psychic skill called ‘Remote Viewing’, complete with references in the film to Remote Viewer (RVer) David Morehouse’s book, Psychic Warrior. Ewan McGregor’s character Bob Wilton asks George Clooney’s character, Lyn Cassady, a Special Forces agent who reveals the existence of a secret, psychic military unit: “Are you a psychic warrior?” “No, I’m a Jedi Knight”, replies Cassady, as eager reporter Wilton begins to discover more about the U.S. Army’s First Earth Battalion, a unit that employs paranormal powers in their missions.

Directed by Darren Arnofsky (The Wrestler) and with a cast including Jared Leto (American Psycho) and Jeniffer Conolly (Blood Diamond) Requiem for a Dream shows four paralleled individuals each with a menacing addiction to different drugs. The film gives us an insight into the disastrous consequences that occur due to their addictions. The film has a huge cult status and had a huge impact on audiences and critics alike when originally released.

Pete, some people could say that you were insane to take on the making of a film like this to the nth degree to hike over to Romana in the depth of Latin America, one of the most isolating and intimidating places on the planet, and then spending 7 or 8 hours climbing up the face of it to get to the plato. Was it really necessary, and were you at any point scared?

PD: First of all I must apologise as one of the things that I picked up in Venice, besides the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award that Pixar gave me, was a cold! But yeah, we hiked up there and I do think it was necessary as it is such a fantastic weird place. But we wanted to capture as much as we could for the believability because one of the things that is important in any film, especially in something as fantastic as this one, is that you really believe in these characters, that they could get hurt, that bad things could happen to them, and the believability was something we really worked for.

Strictly Come Dancing Week 3 was another gloriously glitzy affair with the 14 remaining celebrity contestants taking on either the tricky Quickstep or the dramatic Paso Doble dances.

Another week and yet another storm for the BBC and their most popular programme. Just as the Alesha judge hoo-hah was quietening down, silly old Anton du Beke has only landed himself in some very hot water with accusations of racism. With the papers having a field day over this latest revelation the focus has somewhat shifted from the two celebrities who are rumoured to be having extra-curricular dance classes with their partners… if you get our drift?! Joe Calzaghe and his Russian beauty Kristina Rihanoff have pretty much gone public with their romance, but Ali Bastian and her dance partner Brian Fortuna were being very coy indeed when Tess tried to squeeze some juicy info from the clearly smitten couple. Even judge Len Goodman couldn’t resist making a jibe as he remarked on the surprising ‘lack of body contact’ between the pair during their routine!!

Skateboarding Superstar Pete King

Pete King set out to skate his way across the UK to help get kids out and skateboard - oh, and also to help celebrate the launch of Disney XD and DisneyXD.co.uk, the UK’s first primarily boy-focused TV channel for kids, which had its first show in the UK on 31^st August.

Pete King kick-flipped and tail-slid through the UK, from Land’s End to John O’Groats, executing daredevil tricks whilst conducting master classes for kids looking to become the next British skateboarding stars.

Le Donk & Scor-Zay-Zeeby is an improvised comedy, shot over five days by Meadows, and devised with and starring Considine. Rock roadie and failed musician, Le Donk (Considine) has lived, loved and learned (?). Along the way he’s lost a girlfriend (Olivia Colman) and his life has turned to shit. But he has found a new sidekick in up-and-coming Nottingham rap prodigy Scor-zay-zee (playing himself). With Meadows’ fly-on-the-wall crew in tow, Donk sets out to make Scor-zay-zee (and himself) a star - with a little help from the Arctic Monkeys. This low-budget rockumentary follows Le Donk and Scorz on their journey of a lifetime; it’s an unpredictable, irrepressible ode to spontaneous filmmaking - and to a burgeoning UK rap talent.
