Doctors have confirmed that the singer, Michael Jackson, has died, aged 50, after suffering a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon (25/06/09) at his Holmby Hills home in L.A. Rumours are the singer was ill and needed a lung transplant, as well as other unconfirmed reports that Jackson was possibly suffering from skin cancer.

The tragic news first broke on entertainment website TMZ.com that claimed that the singer was dead before medical staff arrived and tried to revive him, after he had stopped breathing. Sources also say Jackson’s sister, LaToya, was seen crying as she entered the hospital where the singer was taken.

The ‘Thriller’ superstar was due to start a series of comeback concert tours, and leaves behind three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince “Blanket” Michael Jackson II.
