To celebrate the DVD and Blu-ray release of Open Season 2, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment hosted an exclusive premiere screening with a difference at the Vue West End Cinema in Leicester Square on Sunday 8th February.
———–
A number of celebrities attended the screening, including TV presenters Gail Porter, Julian Bennett and Linda Papadopulous, The Sun columnist Jane Moore, rising actress Amber Beattie (The Boy In the Striped Pyjamas) and Big Brother star Nikki Graham. To celebrate the fact that the film stars a host of pampered pooches, many of the came with their canine companions who were given the VIP treatment by the team from Grand Union Pets, whilst their owners watched the movie. Also on the red carpet were Blue Peter dogs, Lucy and Mabel, who happily posed for the press and welcomed the guests and their four-legged pals.

So what’s the animated film all about? Well, we see the hilarious return of the lovable Boog and Elliot, back for more crazy adventures. Sausage-dog-turned-’native’ Mr Weenie is kidnapped by a group of pampered pets, determined to return him to his owners. Our heroes and their friends, including the feisty Highland squirrel McSquizzy (voiced by Billy Connolly) and the beautiful doe Giselle (voiced by Jane Krakowski), launch a rescue mission and soon find themselves in the enemy camp: the world of the pets - a ‘holiday resort with a difference’ for the exclusive pooch, complete with water slides.

The DVD is packed with incredible interactive extras, including two featurettes and five fun games. The Blu-ray release boasts the additional ‘Boog and Elliot’s Traffic School’, a Frogger-style game in which our heroes must save Mr Weenie.
