The time: 2.15pm. The scene: Having a brew and a Rich Tea. The Phone: Ring Ring! The question: “Alright petal, fancy coming to the National Television Awards - Front row?” The reply: “Would I!!!” And so it was 30 minutes later, not wanting to be outlashed, I made an emergency stop at Boots to get some fake eyelashes before running home. Turning up at the Royal Albert Hall I was dressed to the nines and ready to do my best Richard Nixon ‘V’ Salute down the red carpet, only to be shafted to ‘door number three round the side love’. Bygones…

The ceremony, hosted by Sir Trevor McDonald was oodles of fun, pulling in from the US the likes of Nicollette Sheridan, (Desperate Housewives), Michael Urie (Ugly Betty), Zachary Quinto (Heroes) and my personal favourite came in the form of a strutting and pouting Miss Paris Hilton (The Internet). Her moment on stage was quite possibly the most awkward of the night as she shifted from foot to foot to make sure we all got a good look, whilst being completely oblivious to the autocue!

Special Recognition Award: Simon Cowell who wryly said: “Well done Strictly.”

The Cowell was truly on form as he went on to say: “I’ve definitely become more spoilt, more shallow… And I have loved every single minute of it”.

The outfits:

Well, thank the lord I did get my lashes as they gave little old me a bit of a boost, whilst surrounded by the painfully thin and painfully beautiful actresses, draped head to toe in designer!

However, as usual, many of the Eastenders cast got it wrong. The Hollyoaks girls gave it a good shot, and this is pure speculation, but I think they had a competition on who could have the biggest hair. For the record the award went to Gemma Merna.

What a night and after a few free bevies I am recovering today and can not wait to put on my favourite outfit again… Joggers, t-shirt and big fluffy sock/slippers!
