The steadily rising comedian Kevin Bishop (Star Stories) has discarded the comedy comfort-blanket of a full and dedicated cast to conquer British audiences and put his name in lights. Obviously named The Kevin Bishop Show, the once Muppet Treasure Island star, broadens his satirical skills in his new first series, co-written with Lee Hupfield.

———-

Kevin himself has packed each episode with 40-45 parody sketches of the rich and enviable. Playing on his strengths, Kevin mimics Simon Cowell’s shop-owner brother, Jonathan Ross and even Bruce Forsyth. Jodie Marsh makes a star appearance in the first episode to resurrect the ‘Essex girl’ reputation, and both Sienna Miller and Gordon Brown take their chances against Kevin’s creative imagination. Unable to peel himself away from his musical gift, Kevin gives us a taster of his talents, moralising as STD Kelly and even showcasing some moves inspired by High School Musical.

The highlights of this crowd-pleasing show are Countdown’s scantily clad Carol and The Nursery Rhyme Crime Squad, hopefully as lasting sketches over Kevin’s debut series. Along for this top-speed spoof Kevin invites old friend Oliver Maltman (Star Stories), Jim Howick (Peep Show), Katie Males (The IT Crowd) and Karen Gillan (Doctor Who).

The first of six weekly episodes will be at 10.00pm on Channel 4 starting Friday 25th July 2008.
