(LOS ANGELES) - Death Row Records, label chief Marion "Suge" Knight, and the estate of Tupac Shakur have been sued by a man-identified as a suspect in Shakur's murder-who says he was a victim of a "rat-pack attack"| the evening Shakur was fatally wounded. In a civil action filed Monday in California Superior Court in L.A., Orlando Anderson claims that on Sept. 7, 1996, he was kicked and beaten by Knight, Shakur, and others at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. He seeks damages to be determined at trial. Anderson, a reputed member of L.A.'s Southside Crips street gang, has been identified by Las Vegas police as a suspect in the shooting of Shakur, who died Sept. 13. No one has been charged with the crime. A security videotape of the MGM Grand incident was used as evidence in Knight's probation violation hearing in February; he is now serving a nine-year sentence from a 1992 assault case. Death Row attorney David Kenner did not return a call seeking comment. An attorney for the Shakur estate could not be reached.
