Beasties Working On New Album

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Beastie Boy Adam Yauch confirmed that he and the rest of the Beasties are indeed hard at work on a new record, the as-yet-untitled follow-up to 1994's Ill Communication.|

Yauch also revealed that the group is again working with longtime friend/co-producer Mario Caldato Jr., and that the record is being recorded in a cellar.

"There's a bunch of songs that are half done," says Yauch, "and they're pretty weird."

Yauch also discusses how much he enjoys the band's return to their New York roots, admonishes the Chinese government to change their policy toward Tibet, and hints that there may be some country sounds on the new record. (Scott Hess)
