Beastie Boys Fans Bombard Website

fans need clips

The Beastie Boys recently began posting sound clips of unreleased material from their forthcoming album, Hello Nasty. Unfortunately, the ensuing traffic jam of anxious fans made it difficult for some to hear the tracks this week. |

A spokesman for the funk-laced hip hop trio told JAMTV that since the clips of "Intergalactic," "Shame In Your Game " and "Super Disco Breakin" hit the Grand Royal Records website a few weeks ago, fans have been bombarding the site.

Since the Beasties' official website is not engineered to handle heavy traffic, the audio clips have been difficult to access.

The various clips of "Intergalactic" -- the first scheduled single from Hello Nasty -- that have slowly crept onto the website, have been accessed more than 40,000 times, the band's spokesman said.

Until Thursday, fans could only hear portions of the song on the Internet, but now the entire album version of "Intergalactic" is available. In addition to the website, radio stations across the United States have begun playing the single, including the influential stations Q101 (WKQX) in Chicago and KROQ in Los Angeles.

Though clips of the other two songs haven't been as popular as "Intergalatic," they haven't been neglected either. As of Thursday, "Shame In Your Game" and "Super Disco Breakin'" had been hit 23,469 and 27,472 times respectively.

Hello Nasty will hit stores across America on July 14 and will bow on July 6 in Europe and Australia. A CD single for "Intergalactic" will hit stores overseas on June 22; at present, there are no plans to release it Stateside.

Videographer Nathaniel Hornblower is currently creating a video for the single that will hit the official Beastie Boys website first.

The Beastie Boys will premiere their new songs live for the first time on June 14 at the Tibetan Freedom Concert at R.F.K. Stadium in Washington, D.C.

They are scheduled kick off their European tour on June 20 at the WDR Festival in Loreley, Germany. From there, the New York natives will hit various festivals across the Continent through the beginning of August, including the Roskilde Festival in Roskilde, Denmark on June 27, the Dr. Music Festival in the Spanish Pyrenees on July 10, the T in the Park Festival in Kinross, Scotland on June 12 and the Reading Festival in Reading, England on Aug. 29.

The band's spokesman said the Boys are firming up a U.S. tour and will likely play arena-sized venues from late July through August. (Ari Bendersky)
