Anderson's Case Against Tupac Continues Following Murder

case continues

(NEW YORK) - Renee Campbell, attorney for the late Orlando Anderson, the alleged gang member named as a principal suspect in the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur, says she will proceed with a civil suit filed by Anderson against Shakur's estate last fall on behalf of his heirs. |

Anderson and two other men were killed Friday in what police have described as a gang shootout at a Compton, Calif., car wash. In his suit, Anderson alleged that he suffered emotional distress and physical injury as the result of a beating inflicted by Shakur, Death Row Records owner Marion "Suge" Knight, and others at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas on Sept. 7, 1996.

A couple of hours after the assault, Shakur was fatally wounded in a drive-by attack. Though Anderson was named as a suspect in the shooting by Vegas police, he was never charged with the crime. Shakur's estate filed a wrongful-death suit against Anderson in September, but attorney Donald David says that the action is now up in the air.
