Tupac Shakur Lawsuits Multiply

Tupac Lawsuits

The litigation is hitting the fan once again in the realm of Tupac Shakur.|

Two separate lawsuits were filed against the gangsta rapper's estate and his mother this week, adding to the escalating number of pending claims surrounding the late Shakur.

Early in the week, a Beverly Hills jeweler reportedly filed suit against Shakur's estate, claiming that he never paid for $83,000 worth of white gold and diamonds. The Associated Press reports that R&S Antiques Inc. is seeking more than $93,000 for the hefty bill and the interest owed on it.

Just days later, Shakur's mother was slapped with a $10 million lawsuit. The breach-of-contract complaint was filed by the former COO of Amaru Records on Thursday. Afeni Shakur founded the record company to posthumously issue her son's unreleased music and hired Lisa Smith-Putnam as COO.

Smith claims that Amaru stopped paying her without ever officially terminating her contract.

This lawsuit follows on the heels of a complaint filed by Afeni Shakur one year ago. In that lawsuit, the mother of the slain rapper demanded $20 million from Death Row Records, whom she claimed failed to pay Tupac royalties owed him for All Eyez on Me and The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory.

Just one month earlier, Death Row had filed a $7.1 million claim against the Shakur estate. The lawsuit claimed that Shakur owed the record company reimbursements for money allegedly advanced to the rapper for cars, houses, jewelry and other expenditures, including recording and video costs. That claim was reportedly rejected by the court. (Anni Layne)
