This week’s new crop of videos were delivered fresh today from our turbo video oven - to view correctly, spread butter on the top and lick your screen to taste. Wouter de Becker (Wally to his mates) is the brains behind award-winning Aussie act Gotye, as well as being the drummer and singer with his other band, The Basics. But it’s Gotye (pronounced Gaultier) that’s been catching the world’s attention of late, being compared to Beck and winning the Australian ARIA for Best Male last year, the Aussie equivalent of The Brits. Belgian-born but Melbourne-based, his second album “Like Drawing Blood” is a fantastic patchwork of samples and styles, held together by Wally’s soaring vocals and intricate arrangements. This week’s No.1 record in the UK official charts is Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl”. Apparently, what with Katy being a girl and all, this is a bit risqué - but as she says in the song, so long as her boyfriend doesn’t mind (RealMusic Blog is guessing that he doesn’t so long as there’s a video to watch), then everything’s OK…
