As catchy album titles go, this one isn’t up there. Do not adjust your eyes though - we haven’t sat on our keyboard. Rather, it’s in Icelandic, and translated the long list of letters actually mean ‘With A Buzz In Our Ears We Play Endlessly’. After listening to this album, RealMusic Blog would be happy if Sigur Ròs did just that. Their music is bewitching, beguiling and broodingly beautiful…

Coldplay are a band that RealMusic Blog really wants to like. They always look clean and tidy, their music is often well constructed and sometimes ethereal, and in Chris Martin they have a frontman with well-conditioned hair and ultra-moisturised skin. But then… Well, then we think of the contradictions that lie within. That they can produce a great song like “Yellow”, but that it’s painful to hear their lead singer attempt it; that “Fix You” makes us want to jam the skip button permanently down and never come up for air; that Jo Whiley is a HUGE FAN; and that their fourth album is too pretentiously titled for words. So it is that we approach “Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends” with equal amounts of hope and trepidation - but probably not as much as EMI’s Guy Hands, who, after the loss of Radiohead and Macca has everything riding on this one…
With big brands falling over themselves to grab a little cool from the music they associate with, next up is Converse - possibly one of the few brands that’s already got more than enough cool in its locker. Turns out that the shoe-makers have been cobbling together their canvas marvels and the like for 100 years now, and so to celebrate, they plonked a group of uber-cool music-makers together in a room and didn’t let them out until they came up with a song to do the Converse Conga (TM) to.

Dwayne Carter - aka Lil Wayne - isn’t what RealMusic Blog would call a modest man, in 2005 proclaiming himself “the greatest rapper alive”. Now we’re no slouch when it comes to blowing our own trumpet, but even we can see holes in that argument. What isn’t in any doubt, however, is that Mr Carter can make a hard and fast record. His sixth album “Tha Carter III” prompted a swell of hype and pre-album leaks, but was eventually released to a hungry public on June 10th - and on it, he’s roped in mates like Jay-Z, Babyface, Kanye and T-Pain to add a bit of extra polish.
Our American cousins over at Rhapsody’s Play Music Blog spoke to the hired help behind the album, to find out what the producers and engineers behind the record thought about the process and how each track came to be. Producer David Banner comments: “Wayne is the one of the only rappers in this generation who doesn’t mind breaking out of the everyday mould of what people think records should be…”
