It’s the motion picture of the year (if you ignore all the other motion pictures showing at your local multiplex, which by and large, RealMusic Blog does): Samantha, Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte are set to strut back into our lives and not only will we be parking at a wonky angle, jumping out of our car and running to the cinema quicker than Dwain Chambers in his drug-addled prime, we’ll also be plugging in to the soundtrack which features such luminaries as Fergie, Duffy, Jem, Al Green and Joss Stone.
RealMusic Blog knows cool - we’re from Southend after all - but even we have to admit that there aren’t many things in the world cooler than Philadelphia’s Santi White right now - aka Santogold. After her band Stiffed folded, Santogold decided to go it alone - and to that end has just released her debut record, “Santogold”. Professional dark-colour wearers and general all-round purveyors of eyeliner The Cure have announced plans to release four new singles every month, on the 13th of every month, leading up to their 13th studio album being released on September 13th. The album is as yet untitled, but if they call it “Thirteen”, then RealMusic Blog will know that artists have finally run out of inspiration when naming their new albums. Bryan Adams’ 11th studio album was called “11″; Portishead’s third was titled… “Third”; and with “TwentyFourSeven”, UB40 are set to release their 24th album a year late. It’s now time to quit the numbers obsession, people. You’re pop stars, not accountants…
RealMusic Blog has often wondered what the Arctic Monkeys do in between churning out stellar albums, falling out of West End nightclubs and dressing up in wacky hunting outfits. And now we have the answer - or at least an answer for Alex Turner. The Arctics frontman has teamed up with Miles Kane of Scouse outfit The Rascals and produced a jaunty Scott Walker-inspired collection of tunes that are ultra-easy on the ear.
