  • Gotye. We Told You So, Didn't We?

    Way back when, in the time when we only had 57 Facebook friends (imagine) and when Google Plus was just a glint in Larry Page’s eye, we told you Gotye was ace. In fact, we even went so far as to name his second album Like Drawing Blood as our album of 2008, and interviewed him too, confirming he’s also a very lovely man.

    Now that his new song Somebody That I Used To Know is racing up the charts and the radio fraternity are treating him their own discovery, we thought we’d sit back and wallow in our psychic powers. We knew Wally was great back then and now he’s getting the mainstream success he deserves. If you haven’t heard his new album Making Mirrors yet, we suggest you do that now.   • Madge Vs Macca? Madge Wins...

    This week has seen new albums announced by both Madonna and Paul McCartney, music legends and traffic-stoppers in their own right. However, we think it only fair to reveal that we reckon Madonna has won with her album title MDNA, as opposed to Paul whose new oeuvre is titled Kisses On The Bottom. He’s backing it up by saying that it’s a lyric from the album’s opener, a cover of Fats Waller’s I’m Gonna Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter – but whichever way you look at it, Madge comes over as the cool aunt while Paul’s clearly the embarrassing grandad…
