Neu! (1)

The Krautrock duo Neu was formed in 1971 in Düsseldorf, West Germany by Michael Rother and Klaus Dinger, two former Kraftwerk members. Their self-titled debut album saw release in 1972 and offered groovy, minimalist tunes; “Neu 2” followed in 1973. Although they never became known to a wider audience outside of Germany, musicians such as David Bowie, Sonic Youth and Julian Cope quoted them as influences. Further releases by the duo, realized in-between other projects, included “Neu! 75” (1975) and “Neu! 4” (released in 1996, but recorded during the eighties).
