The punk-pop band ¡Action Pact! formed in London, U.K. in 1981 and was soon invited by DJ John Peel to do one of his famous recording sessions. Shortly afterwards, the band released their debut album, "Mercury Theatre: On the Air!" (1983). It offered abrasive punk fare, somewhat gilded by the siren-like vocals of female singer George Cheex. The band managed to release a second album, "Survival of the Fattest", in 1984, but then vanished from the scene when the punk fad had crossed its apex. 1997 saw the release of a collection of their singles.
