Olivido Gara alias Alaska formed the outfit Kaka de Luxe back in the year 1978 and went on to become one of the icons of the Spanish new wave scene, the so-called Movida Madrileña. The band soon changed its name to Alaska y los Pegamoides and released its debut single, “Horror En El Hipermercado”, in 1980. In 1982 the name was changed again, this time to Alaska y Dinarama. Full-length releases under that name included “Canciones Profanas” (1983) and “No Es Pecado” (1986). In 2002 the best-of compilation “Alaska Y Sus Canciones De La Movida” saw release.
