Patachou
Patachou, or Lady Patachou, was born Henriette Ragon in Paris in 1918. She started singing after hours in her restaurant at the foot of Montmartre. Her remarkable voice, and audacity became the stuff of legend in Paris nightclub circles. She took to cutting the ties off her customers, and tacking them to the ceiling of the restaurant as decorations. Maurice Chevalier heard her sing, encouraging her to perform at nearby cabarets. Her show quickly became as renowned as her songs "Rue Lepic" and "Mon Homme". Among other new talents she discovered George Brassens.
