Paolo Nutini

2007 X-Factor winner Leon Jackson said Nutini was his inspiration, but we really shouldn't hold that against him. The lad from Paisley had one of the most streamlined advertising campaigns around his debut album These Streets, and his single New Shoes caught the radio-play imagination, with its Sarah-Jessica Parker-like philosophy that everything will be fine if you keep purchasing footwear. By and large, it's a truth for life.
Despite his Italian-steeped moniker, Nutini is firmly rooted in Bonnie Scotland. He quit school and Glasgow when he was 16, moved to London and schlepped up and down the gold-encrusted pavements with his guitar, gigging until he was signed by Atlantic just after his 18th birthday. He's since had headlining tours around the world and 2009's Sunny Side Up was greeted with fervour by fans. Live, Paolo's a tour de force, but one last request - stand up straight when you're singing love.
