Music > Classical > Alex de Grassi
The American guitarist Alex de Grassi studied urban geography and then went to London where he made money as a street musician. A largely self-taught guitarist, de Grassi released his debut album “Turning: Turning Back” (1978) on the Windham Hill label, one of the most influential labels dealing in contemporary instrumental music. De Grassi was soon respected as an innovative guitarist and composer. In the eighties he became fascinated with Bolivian music and used some of the influences gathered during his travels of that Latin American country for his 1987 release “Altiplano”.
