Jeff Wayne was born in New York. He studied classical music and jazz. During the 1960's he produced commercials and television music. In the 1970's he produced the number one album" Rock On" by David Essex. That success led to a few collaborations with the likes of Chris Spedding. During the late 1970's he worked on his project "War Of The Worlds", which featured top names such as Richard Burton, Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy) and Justin Hayward. Jeff Wayne also directed a musical adaptation of the Hollywood blockbuster "Spartacus". Wayne's version featured Anthony Hopkins and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
