Buck Pleads Not Guilty

Rapper faces eight years in Vibe Awards stabbing

Rapper Young Buck pleaded not guilty to felony assault with a deadly weapon in Los Angeles on Friday, stemming from the incident at the November Vibe Awards in where he allegedly stabbed a man during a brawl. Young Buck (born David Darnell Brown) could face up to eight years in prison if convicted.

Police contend the fight began after a man named Jimmy Johnson approached producer Dr. Dre while seeking an autograph and subsequently punched him. Johnson, who was then allegedly stabbed by Buck and later hospitalized with a collapsed lung, also pleaded innocent to assault charges. Johnson is due back in court January 26th.

Dre produced part of Young Buck's first album Straight Outta Cashville, which debuted at Number Three in August.

Buck is due back in court on February 18th for a preliminary hearing in which the judge will decide whether there is enough evidence for the case to go to trial. Buck remains free on $500,000 bail.
