Yazoo
The pop duo Yazoo was formed in 1982 as founding member of Depeche Mode, Vince Clarke, teamed with singer Alison Moyet. The duo’s unlikely combination created an unexpected soundsacpe, layered with Moyet’s soulful lament and Clarke’s trademark synth melodies. Their first single, “Only You”, became a huge hit in England and their debut LP, “Upstairs at Eric’s” appeared later in the year. With a sold-out tour and increasing popularity, the duo’s relationship seemed to sour and they announced their breakup in 1983 with the release of their second LP, “You and Me Both”.
