The Vogues were a swell band from Pittsburgh who meshed bleached Doo-Wop with Garage Pop in the pre-hippie '60s. Their folkified "Five O'clock World" remains one of the joys of AM radio but soon after it hit the charts they transformed themselves into a more traditional vocal quartet. At their best the Vogues sounded like the Byrds turning the Lettermen onto a whole new scene.
