The Undertones
The punk-pop band The Undertones formed in Derry, Northern Ireland in 1976. Their 1978 debut EP "Teenage Kicks" became a smash hit overnight - partly thanks to the godfather of all U.K. DJ's, John Peel. A self-titled debut album followed suit in 1979. Their straightforward, fun approach to pop and singer Feargal Sharkey's unique voice kept attracting the masses until The Undertones decided that it was time for musical experimentations in 1981. From then on, it was all re-issues and half-ignored but heartfelt efforts for the boys from Derby.
