Not to be confused with the British band of the same name (who did "Telstar"), this California band helped spawn the early-'60s Surf explosion that swept the U.S. Using reverb, a wailing sax and a snappy back beat, the Tornadoes' "Bustin' Surfboards" invoked the feeling of salt water, sand and crashing waves.
