The alternative band The Shamen was founded in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1986. Famous for combining hip-hop with psychedelic sixties rock, they released their debut album "Drop" in '87. In '88, the band started using sexually explicit visuals for their stage show. As of 89's "In Gorbachev We Trust", The Shamen were turning more towards dance-oriented sounds, a move that paid off during the early nineties when they scored a few hits in the UK. But after the '94 album "Different Drums", the buyers' interest in The Shamen seemed to ebb away again.
