Many critics and fans expected The Only Ones to make it big, but the band never quite lived up to these expectations. The Only Ones were heavily influenced by the New York Dolls and other early punk bands. The group was led by singer Peter Perrett, who often sang about dysfunctional modern love. The Only Ones only existed for four years, from 1978 to 1981, only released three albums, and only had one hit song, "Another Girl, Another Planet". Perret continued a solo career after the band split, working on several projects such as "The One" in the middle of the 90's.
