One of the more accessible early Gospel vocal groups, the Highway Q.C.'s piece together blues-heavy five-part harmonies with soaring leads and a rumbling bottom. The original lineup of the group included a young man named Sam Cooke, later replaced by none other than Lou Rawls. The current lineup has remained intact since the '60s, however, and the group performs their brand of traditionally-styled Southern Gospel to this day.
