The Dead will use their June 12th appearance at the Bonnaroo Music Festival as the springboard for the Wave That Flag summer tour. The road vets have lined up another thirty-five dates that will keep them on stage into mid-August.
Following Bonnaroo, held on a farm in Manchester, Tennessee, the group will head out to the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado, a regular stop in the Grateful Dead Days, for a five-night stand. The tour is currently scheduled to wrap on August 19th in Atlanta. The Dead lineup will include Grateful Dead principals Bob Weir (guitar/vocals), Phil Lesh (bass) and Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann (drums), as well as more recent additions Jeff Chimenti (keyboards) and Warren Haynes and Jimmy Herring (guitars).
Haynes and Robert Hunter will play select solo sets as openers throughout the tour. Starting July 3rd, Haynes will do triple duty, as the Allman Brothers Band -- for which he also plays guitar -- will join the Dead for the remainder of the tour.
