Spyro Gyra
The British folk band Steeleye Span was formed in 1970 and saw many changes in its lineup, but has always featured vocalist Maddy Prior at its front. During the early 70’s the group was popular mainly among the English folk circuit and was always compared to Fairport Convention. The mid-70’s found them at the height of their success with the chart hits “Gaudette” and “All Around My Hat”. The band often covered diverse material ranging form Buddy Holly to Brecht-Weill songs and included cameo appearances of David Bowie and Peter Sellers on their albums. The group disbanded in 1978.
