Sophie Zelmani had what one could call a dream career. A self-taught singer/songwriter, she sent some demo tapes around in the early nineties, was picked up by Sony and released her self-titled debut album in 1995. The offering quickly went gold in Sweden and Japan, where her Van Morrison-like compositions and her clear, fragile voice attracted large numbers of buyers. Her 1998 offering “Precious Burden” received critical praise. Although a shy person, Zelmani started to tour more and even formed a band for her 1999 album “Time to Kill”.
