Soft Machine

Robin Proper-Sheppard began releasing his solo material through the Sophia project in 1996. His previous band, God Machine, came to a tragic end in 1995 with the death of the bassist Jimmy Fernandez, Sheppard’s close friend. Joined by members of Ligament, Elevate and Oil Seed Rape, Sheppard recorded a low-key, delicate album, “Fixed Water”, which was released in 1996. With his new sound miles away from his previous releases, the LP was well received by the critics and was followed by “The Infinite Circle”, two years later. In 2001 the LP, “De Nachten”, appeared.
