Slade

Slade made it big in England in the 70's, hitting the top five eleven times in four years. Originally the Be-Tweens and then Ambrose Slade, they became Slade when Chas Chandler joined and suggested the name change and a new "skinhead" look, Doc Martens and shaved heads. The look only lasted a couple of years, until they went glam in '71 and started topping the charts with songs like "Cum on Feel the Noize". Slade never caught on in the States, and punk eventually took over, but they kept at it until the mid 80's. Slade II emerged in the 90's, without key members Noddy Holder and Jimmy Lea.
