Saxon

Saxon is a heavy metal band from Britain which, unlike their contemporaries Iron Maiden and Def Leppard, never made it big in the States. The band was formed in 1977 in Barnsley, England and made an early name for itself opening for groups like Motörhead and Nazareth. Saxon released several successful albums in their early years, climaxing with the live album "The Eagle Has Landed" in 1982. On the brink of being stars, their next albums were relative disasters. Saxon managed something of a comeback, however. In 1997 they released "Unleash the Beast" and in 1999 "Metal Head".
