Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs became popular for their Tex-Mex Garage hits "Wolly Bully" and "Lil' Red Riding Hood." Dallas musician Domingo Samudio took the name Sam the Sham in reference to a joke about his poor singing ability. Sam the Sham disbanded the Pharaohs because he was sick of being considered a novelty act.
