The Canadian power guitar trio Rush was formed in 1968 in Toronto, Canada by members guitarist Alex Lifeson, vocalist/bassist Geddy Lee and drummer John Rutsey, who was replaced by Neil Peart, following the band's self-titled debut in 1974. Two years later, the new trio released the LP "2112", a futuristic concept album based on the writings of Ayn Rand, fusing high pitched vocals with complex guitar work. It was the first of a long series of gold and platinum releases. In 2002, the group released their 17th studio LP, "Vapor Trails".
