Pitchshifter, along with Godflesh, the Young Gods and a few others, were among the first wave of acts to tweak the Metal structure with heavy doses of technology. Hitting velocities only Thrash acts had been able to attain, they soldered together dense frays of programmed beats, distorted vocals, and guitar chunks. Less aggression in recent efforts has allowed J.S. Clayton's arch songwriting to emerge.
