Neo-psychedelic pop doesn't come wrapped up more perfectly than the Olivia Tremor Control. Although their "even the sprinkler is an instrument" guide to homemade atmospherics can prove to be frustrating, the group's three-minute pop extravaganzas propel them to the forefront of their retro-pop contemporaries. Cascading vocals, multiple harmonies, "Yellow Submarine" imagery and handclaps blend and show deference to past pop masterpieces without identifying them as singularly "Beatles-esque."
