Although Nils Lofgren was a valued sideman for both Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen, it’s his solo efforts, which have stood him apart. Born in Chicago, IL, on June 21, 1951, the singer and guitarist found the band Grin at age 18. Grin disbanded in 1974 after their fourth album Gone Crazy" was unsuccessful. Lofgren’s debut solo albums, "Nils Lofgren" and "Cry Tough", were well received. In 1983, he joined Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, shelving his solo aspirations for six years until the Vision Music release "Breakaway Angel" (2002), and following in 2004 with "Shine Silently"."
