Nigel Kennedy

Nigel Kennedy spent much of the last thirty years as the bad boy star of British classical music. The virtuoso violinist and Juilliard alumnus made his formal London debut in 1977. Kennedy discarded the stiff behaviour, mannerisms and conventions of classical music. His punk hairdo, working class accent and bad behaviour―combined with his unarguable skill―critiqued the class system and the exclusive pretentions of the music world. His record sales sky-rocketed, out-competing pop recordings on the charts. Kennedy's "Vivaldi Four Seasons" became an all-time classical music best-seller.
