Shaffer Smith (aka Ne-Yo) is an American R&B musician, songwriter and arranger. Smith became hot property in 2004 when the song "Let Me Love You", recorded with Mario, became one of the most-played pieces on American urban radio. He was signed with Columbia records but had a well-publicized falling out with his label. His first album was not released. In early 2006 his second, debut album "In My Own Words" went to the top of the charts and sold platinum. The track "So Sick" from the album went to number one. Smith has also penned top tracks for Mary J. Blige, B2K and Faith Evans.
