If you ever wondered who wrote the hard rock classic "Mississippi Queen" - it was Long Island rock band Mountain. Formed in 1969 by guitarist Leslie West, the band's fourth live appearance was at the Woodstock Festival and their first album "Mountain Climbing" went gold, due to the aforementioned hit. The "Mountain Live" record from 1972 led to the first of many break-ups. The first reunion took place in '74, for live shows West would regroup every other year, in '85, '96 and 2002 for new studio outputs, the last one being called "Mystic Fire".
