Moby Grape combined psychedelia with folk, country and rock 'n' roll better than anyone else did in 1960s San Francisco. They may not have become as big as other SF bands, but Moby Grape have long been a favorite with aficionados of psychedelia. During the recording of "Wow" in 1968, guitarist Skip Spence went berserk and attacked members of the band with an ax.
