The French singer and actress Mistinguett was born as Jeanne Bourgeois on April 5, 1875. She debuted in the Casino de Paris in the year 1895 and went on to become one of the most popular French acts of her time – and she was probably the first (but not the last) female star to insure her legs. While Mistinguett had been famous for her love life during her day and time, she is today best remembered for her song “Mon Homme”, recorded in 1920. She also appeared in numerous movies, among them “Fleur de Paris” (1916), and died on January 5, 1956.
