Singer/songwriter Willy DeVille led the band Mink DeVille from the  mid-70’s to the mid-80’s. The group had an ever changing personnel, and was  basically a platform for him and his songs. At the core, Mink DeVille was a soul band with blues and Cajun music influences. After appearing on the "Live at CBGB’s" (1976) compilation, the group released their debut album "Cabretta" (1977), which spawned the UK hit "Spanish Stroll". 1981 saw the Jack Nietzsche produced album "Coup de Grace". By 1985's "Sportin’ Life" though, Willy Deville disbanded Mink DeVille in favor of a solo career.
