Maria Jimenez
The untamable Maria Jimenez was like Bob Dylan singing flamencos. From Seville, she was a master of rumba and buleria and continuously challenged accepted limits of the flamenco style. After a recording hiatus, her 2002 album "Donde Mas Duele" featured adaptations of Joaquin Sabina's most provocative pop rock songs. She followed with "De Maria a Maria Con Sus Dolores", personal interpretations of Spanish classics and some originals. 2005 saw two releases. One explored the poetic rancheros of Jose Alfredo Jimenez, one of Mexico's greatest songwriters and the other was called "Genio y Figura".
