Marcus Miller

Born in Brooklyn on June 14, 1959, Marcus Miller was raised in the Queens neighborhood. Picking up the bass in his youth, he quickly moved to other instruments, to become one of New York's prominent live performers as well as session musician in his early twenties. From 1981 to 82 he went on the road with his hero Miles Davis and worked with him on the albums "Tutu" and "Music from Siesta". Since the 80's he has been releasing his solo projects, ranging form jazz to funk and R&B. His 2001 LP "M2" won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Jazz Album.
