Magazine
Punk rock group Magazine was formed by ex-Buzzcocks singer Howard Devoto in 1977. By the end of that year, they had been signed to Virgin Records and soon released their debut single "Shot By Both Sides". The song reached number 41 in the UK charts. It was included on the first Magazine album "Real Life" which was released in 1978. This was followed a year later with "Secondhand Daylight" and then "The Correct Use of Soap". Magazine had some success with "Sweetheart Contract" on the British charts in 1980. Devoto left the group the following year and Magazine disbanded shortly afterwards.
