Maddy Prior
Born on August 14, 1947, Maddy Prior was one of Britain's most accomplished folk vocalists of the late 60's and 70's, with a career stretching beyond the era of folk and into the 00's. Meeting Fairport Convention bassist Ashley Hutchings and singer/instrumentalist Tim Hart, the three formed the band Steeleye Span, which became an institution of British folk-rock. In 1976, she teamed up with singer June Tabor under the name Silly Sisters to record two albums. In 1978, Prior started her solo career with the LP "Woman in the Wings".
